As we prepare for the upcoming year, we are not just setting resolutions; our team is adopting lifestyle habits to add vitality and purpose to every moment.

Before diving into our list of 2024’s habits, what is a habit exactly? According to habit expert Dr. Gina Cleo: a habit is a groove of action repeated so much in a familiar setting that it’s practically autopilot — minimal effort, maximum impact.

So, here are the habits the Bondi Active team will be activating this year. 

Become an early bird

You snooze, you lose. The science tells us waking up early helps us develop healthier habits during the day. That’s why we won’t be hitting the snooze button in 2024!

Ever heard of ‘The 5am Club’? It’s the brainchild of bestselling author and leadership guru, Robin Sharma. This concept puts the spotlight on the magic of waking up at 5am and the transformative effects it brings to your life. 

Why the hype? Well, Sharma believes the early-bird approach sets us up to be more productive, turbocharges our physical and mental health, and gives us a profound sense of achievement and purpose. It’s like getting a head start on the day. 

For us, 2024 is all about making the most of those early mornings to squeeze in some self-care. Whether it’s a beachside run, sunrise yoga, or catching a wave, our goal is to get up and at ’em before the craziness kicks in.

Focus on healthy eating

Have you watched the new Netflix series, You Are What You Eat? It’s an eye-opener, that’s for sure! This ‘twin experiment’ spells out with crystal-clear clarity that our bad food habits are letting us down. The healthier the food you eat, the better you’ll feel.

At Bondi Active, we’re nurturing ourselves from the inside out, starting with what we put in our bodies! We’re completely in sync with the show’s message: what we eat crafts our best selves. So, more nutrient-dense food, coming right up!

Do a digital detox

This one’s a no-brainer. We all know our phone addictions are messing with our minds.  This year, we’re cutting down screen time and prioritising real connections and outdoor adventures to be more present with the people around us.

Power Living breaks down the benefits of a digital detox, revealing its profound impact on our physical, emotional, and mental well-being. 

Drink more water 

This one goes without saying, water is our secret elixir for sustaining our high-performance lifestyle. Water isn’t just a thirst quencher: it’s the fuel that gets us through every wave, every run, and every workout. 

We’re filling up our Stanley cups (at least three times a day) to make sure we’re hitting that golden three-litre mark that provides us with the right liquid to hydrate our bodies. 

Find the FUN in fitness

Whether it's pilates, HIIT, or a refreshing run, we're viewing every workout with gratitude and appreciating the benefits of movement. 

2023 brought a shift from HIIT routines to a focus on weight training and pilates for longevity. And guess what’s hitting the For You Page on TikTok this year? Running videos are taking off, marking 2024 as the year of the runner.

So, what’s our 2024 mantra? Making fitness FUN by choosing an activity we WANT to do, not feeling like we HAVE to do it. 

Prioritise mental wellness 

When it comes to wellbeing, we're leaning into a more holistic and optimistic approach in 2024, and steering clear of the usual problem-focused aspirations and goals. Why? Because having a positive outlook isn't just a mood booster — it's a game-changer for both our psychological and physiological health.

This year, one of the major health goals on our radar is ‘happiness’. And who wouldn't want to chase that sunshine-filled state of mind?

We're all about embracing the power of positivity. It's not just a trend; it's a lifestyle shift. Let’s ride this wave of optimism in 2024, making happiness a key part of our well-being journey. After all, a positive mindset is the ultimate accessory for an active, fulfilling life!

Keeping it local 

It’s no secret the Bondi bubble is real, and we’re not always mad about it. 

This year, you’ll find us sweating it out with the Bondi Beach Run Club, recovering at Slow House Bondi or wining and dining at the Bondi Pavilion

Lucky for us, our HQ is located on Gould Street in the heart of Bondi Beach where we’re spoilt for choice with local Bondi brands such as Bond-Eye Swim, Tuchuzy, and lots more. 

Why the emphasis on keeping it local? Wherever you live, shop at nearby businesses to support the local economy and foster a stronger sense of community.

Change is challenging, but it’s worth it
